Device and data gifting

**We have been gifted a small number of android TCL505 smartphones. If you or someone in your family could benefit from one of these, please get in touch at EmploymentAndSkills@longhurst-group.org.uk **

Longhurst Group has a limited number of recycled laptops to gift to customers for employment or training purposes. Customers will need to supply the connectivity and we're not able to offer any ICT support for the laptops, but they've been refurbished and in good working order. Those customers that are eligible will be allocated a laptop on a first-come, first-served basis.

We also have a variety of SIM cards from the National Databank (Vodafone, O2 and Three), pre-loaded with data for six months, to gift to customers who don't currently have access to data or cannot afford to buy more. Again, customers that are eligible are allocated these items on a first-come, first-served basis.

"I received a separate sim with mobile data, which allowed me to use the Internet for my Universal Credit claim and order prescriptions, so that was also a massive help!"

"Being gifted a prepaid sim helped me regain my independence after losing my job and suffering with mental health issues, I was able to contact my GP and counsellor without worry of affording credit. It was some much needed help when I needed it most!"

If either or both of these schemes would be of use to you, or you have any queries, please contact our friendly team directly and we can check your eligibility: EmploymentAndSkills@longhurst-group.org.uk. The process is very quick and straightforward so, if you or your household could benefit from any of this, do get in touch.

    Cheaper broadband and phone packages

Social tariffs are cheaper broadband and phone packages for people claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit and some other benefits. Some providers call them ‘essential’ or ‘basic’ broadband.

They’re delivered in the same way as normal packages, just at a lower price. Amid rising living costs, Ofcom is encouraging companies to offer social tariffs to help customers on low incomes. Currently, only 3.1% of eligible households are taking up this offer. To find out more, visit Cheaper broadband and phone packages - Ofcom
