Birmingham Employment & Skills Project

Are you looking to take your first steps towards finding work, whether paid or unpaid?

We can support you in accessing employment, education or training and developing life and employability skills where needed.

This is done on an informal, one-to-one basis and at a time and place that suits you. It’ll cover whatever particular needs you have and could include:

• Careers advice and guidance, CV and application form drafting.

• Job and skills searching tools and interview practice and support.

• Support to find work, apprenticeships, education, skills and training opportunities.

• Impartial and bespoke help and advice.

• Support with life skills, interpersonal skills and social and confidence skills.

• Finding local community groups.

• Access to benefits guidance and support, as well as money advice.

• Referrals to specialist services, mental and physical health support and healthcare services.

• Familiarisation with employers’ expectations, including workplace behaviour.

• Creating links to employers offering jobs, apprenticeships, work experience or volunteering.

As part of our support, we can also help with:

  • Work and Training Grants – ordering ID, such as birth certificates, covering or paying towards training course fees, helping towards self-employment start-up costs.
  • Laptops and other devices where available.
  • Pre-loaded SIM cards and mifi devices.

To have an informal chat, without any commitment from you at this stage, about any of this, please email us on EmploymentAndSkills@longhurst-group.org.uk and a member of the team will get in touch.

The Birmingham Employment and Skills Project is funded through the Shared Prosperity Fund, People and Skills Pillar, until March 2025.

This offer is for our customers living within a Birmingham City Council ward.
